'A hidden gem'
I am delighted to welcome you to Streatham & Clapham High School. At the Junior School we offer your daughter a flourishing environment in which to embark upon an all-rounded education from the age of 3 to the age of 11. We also welcome boys from the age of 3 to 5 in our Nursery.
Our aim is to create a safe, happy and secure learning environment so that each child achieves her or his maximum potential — and beyond it — in all aspects of school life and daily endeavour. When the children move on from us we want them to be confident, responsible global citizens with a love of learning and a desire to contribute positively to society.
Our priority is always for the individual child, and we seek to encourage both academic and personal development through structured, meaningful and enjoyable activities. Our pupils thrive in a family atmosphere where learning is fun; each day has exciting opportunities that encourage each pupil to develop her own strengths and nurture her extra-curricular interests.
Our ethos is firmly underpinned by our strong and supportive pastoral care, which means our girls feel secure in trying new things and understand that making mistakes is part of their learning journey. The principles of care, courtesy and respect are central to our school, and it is through these values that both children and adults thrive.
The Junior School has its own site and enjoys close links with the Senior School. Our pupils benefit from outstanding facilities, far larger than you would expect in a Junior School. We have a well-resourced library, full-sized Sports Hall, excellent Science, ICT, Art and PE facilities, a newly refurbished Nursery and a great deal of space, both inside and out, for the children to play in.
We look forward to welcoming you at one of our Open Days or alternatively please ring our school office on 020 8674 6912 to arrange an individual tour.
In the meantime, I hope you will find time to explore our website to find out all that we can offer.
With best wishes
Liz Astley
