Sixth Form

A message from Sophia Ridley, Assistant Head Mistress (Sixth Form)

For everyone, the time spent in the Sixth Form is often the most exciting, challenging yet rewarding of their young adult life. At SCHS, excitement comes from the ample opportunities for enrichment and personal growth which are offered. The new Sixth Form Centre will give you greater independence as you embark on the challenges of academic study at A Level, where we hope you will continue to foster a love of learning for life and the confidence to think independently. We want you to question and challenge ideas, but, most importantly, we want you to be unafraid of making mistakes; it is by doing so that we often learn the most. If you embrace your time in the Sixth Form in this way, you will have a hugely rewarding experience and will be ready for life at university and beyond.

The foundation of the Sixth Form experience, of course, is about pursuing an enriching academic programme through the study of four subjects in the Lower Sixth. However, the sixth formers at SCHS also benefit from an array of additional challenges and opportunities which serve to enrich their personalities and deepen their outlook on the world around them. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on school life through various leadership opportunities and being role models for the younger girls. Whatever it is that you want from life, the Sixth Form tutor team and I will do our part in getting you as far towards that as we possibly can.

Our environment will nurture and protect your hopes and ambitions so that you always have things in life to aim for. Making them happen - realising them - is down to you. If you want to be part of a Sixth Form that truly does thing differently and helps you live a life that will make you happy, then you have just found it. It is sometimes said that if is the central part of life; in the Sixth Form at SCHS we’ll help you replace that if with a when.

I look forward to meeting you and watching you achieve far more than you ever thought possible.
