A buzzy, diverse community

The school is firmly rooted in the South London community and warmly welcomes girls from a wide range of backgrounds. We also have a strong ethos of promoting local community access and involvement.

This ranges from our partnerships with local state schools, which include a Hockey Academy for primary schools, a Theatre in Education project, careers conventions, subject masterclasses, access to sports facilities, and a community gym for the less able.

Charitable fundraising is a big part of life at SCHS. Recognising their responsibilities to the wider and global community, our girls are energetic in raising money for selected charities every term. Pupils enjoy nurturing SCHS’s partnerships with a school in Indonesia. As part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, our girls initiate and become involved in a diversity of community service activities.

The school is proud to play an active role in the community of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust). The GDST is the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools. With over one hundred years dedicated to pioneering and championing girls’ education, it is a community rich in knowledge and experience. Whilst our staff benefit from sharing GDST best practice, our girls enjoy competing and collaborating with their peers in other schools, taking part in GDST-wide events, rallies, performances and competitions.
