Each class has a weekly Philosophy session (P4C) to engage the girls’ thinking skills, posing open questions and hypothetical situations, and inviting each pupil to question her surroundings. Our Playground Pals initiative for Year 5 girls within the Upper School is a Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education programme that enables them to develop their self-confidence and manage the feelings of others.

Academic Clubs

The Prep offers a wide variety of teacher-organised academic clubs during lunchtime and after school. They are extremely popular, and girls throughout the school enjoy taking part in the book club, French, Mandarin and Spanish clubs. There is also chess, debating and puzzle club. Many also participate in The Scoop club, which publishes The Scoop, a magazine written by Prep girls for Prep girls. The Scoop club team draws girls mainly from Years 5 and 6, who select, write and edit numerous articles, puzzles and competitions that make up each issue. Girls are encouraged to find a voice and write about what is important to them and others.

Sports Clubs

The Prep has a thriving co-curricular sports programme. We encourage all our girls to join a sports club, simply for their own enjoyment or in order to participate in regular fixtures and competitions against other schools and teams from the local area. Our girls excel in gymnastics and karate, and have triumphed in national competitions.

Sports clubs vary throughout the year and include yoga, swimming, netball, rounders, hockey, tennis, gymnastics and backflips.
